Treatments with transparent aligners:

Treatments using thermoformed transparent aligners are suitable for patients who want to undergo orthodontic treatment in complete discretion. This recent technique, invented in the United States and developed in Europe in recent years, is no longer limited to simple treatments; it can now correct more serious disorders. In the case of minor aesthetic dental imperfections, a few months of treatment with transparent aligners may be sufficient. For more complex treatments, one to two years may be required.

The method relies on the elasticity of the splints, which allows progressive movement of the teeth towards the desired final position, always using gentle and continuous forces that are not traumatic for the teeth and their supporting tissues.

A dental impression is taken using the intraoral scanner, a 3D simulation of the movement of the teeth is created, programmed and modified as desired, then validated by the orthodontist, and then the manufacture and wearing of a series of aligners.

Each splint must be worn for 15 days, 22 hours per day (all day except during meals).

Orthodontic treatments using transparent aligners are particularly indicated for adults, as their discretion and comfort perfectly adapt to the constraints of active life.

Recent evolution of orthodontic devices:

Orthodontic devices have evolved a lot in the last twenty years. They are now smaller, more discreet, and more comfortable to wear. Dental impressions have also changed: they are now taken digitally using an intraoral scanner, which makes the procedure faster and more comfortable for the patient.

Orthodontic and Surgical Treatments:

In adults, abnormalities of the teeth and jaws sometimes require the use of maxillofacial surgery in addition to orthodontic treatment. Treatment is then carried out jointly by the orthodontist and the maxillofacial surgeon, who work in close collaboration. An initial orthodontic phase prepares the dental arches for surgery. The intervention then takes place to correct the misalignments and bone abnormalities. Finally, a final finishing orthodontic phase perfectly corrects occlusion and tooth alignment.

Early treatment: interception

A deviation in the jaw or problems with tooth eruption must be addressed as early as possible in the young child.

Interventional treatments are aimed at children aged 6 to 11 years. These early treatments, lasting 6 months to 1 year, allow for the correction of abnormalities as early as possible, taking advantage of the child’s growth, in order to restore normal jaw development and the correct development of the teeth. At this age, the devices used are simple and easy to wear (expansion plates, quad hélix, disconnector, activators, springs, Delaire mask…)

Functional treatments in children:

Functional disorders (breathing through the mouth, tongue position forward, thumb sucking) are the cause, in young children, of disorders in the growth of the jaws and abnormalities in the development of the teeth. It is essential to correct these dysfunctions as early as possible in order to limit their adverse effects in the child. For this purpose, the use of functional appliances (EF), sometimes combined with functional rehabilitation by the orthodontist, allows for the restoration of functional balance in the orofacial sphere, and the normal development of the jaws and teeth.

Treatment with fixed appliances (MA):

In adolescents, at a time when aesthetics are important, we now offer more discreet devices that adapt to the needs of the adolescent and their lifestyle. The use of devices with ceramic attachments is offered, but also treatments with transparent aligners that were previously reserved for adults. These devices, thanks to their comfort and discretion, allow for a more serene approach to orthodontic treatment.
